Mississippi Agricultural Technological Assistance Project (MAGTAP) has been designed to directly improve the income and quality of life of socially disadvantaged farmers and ranchers through the use of technology for management, financial analysis, production, value-added processing and marketing of alternative agriculture enterprises.
Specific objectives of the project include the following: ◦ To establish technology centers to use in teaching socially disadvantaged farmers and landowners ◦ To conduct a comprehensive training program for socially disadvantaged farmers and ranchers on the use of technology in management, production and marketing of agricultural enterprises, as well as providing training in the use of the Internet in accomplishing the prestated areas and accessing USDA programs/agricultural markets. ◦ To develop computerized production and marketing programs that are unique to the needs of participating socially disadvantaged farmers and ranchers. ◦ To assist participating farmers and ranchers in developing and maintaining computerized records to assist farmers in making more informed management decisions. |
